A More Sociable Way to Dine at The Teller’s Table
At The Teller’s Table, we believe that some of the best meals are the ones where the table fills gradually, plates are passed around and everyone gets to try a little bit of everything.
That’s why we’re leaning further into a style of dining centred around tapas, small plates and dishes made for sharing.
For Head Chef Josh, it’s a way of eating that has long held an appeal. Having visited Spain many times over the years, he’s always loved the culture surrounding food there - relaxed, sociable and centred around sharing good things with good people.
It’s a style of cooking he knows professionally, too. Having previously worked in a tapas restaurant in Cambridge, Josh has experienced first-hand the rhythm of a kitchen built around small plates – dishes cooked with simplicity and confidence, leaving the kitchen as soon as they’re ready and designed to be shared around the table.
But there’s more to it than that.
Food, served when it’s at its best
One of the things we love most about small plates is the freedom it gives our kitchen.
Rather than every element of a traditional course needing to arrive at exactly the same time, each dish can leave the kitchen at the moment it’s ready. That might mean when something has rested perfectly, when it’s at exactly the right temperature or when its texture is at its very best.
There’s no sitting beneath heat lamps or waiting for another dish to catch up. When something is ready, it comes to the table.
The result is a meal with a natural rhythm. Plates arrive throughout your time with us, so there’s always something to enjoy without the formality of waiting between courses - and without feeling rushed onto the next one.
Made for sharing
Tapas is sociable by nature.
Whether there are two of you or a whole table, sharing means you can explore much more of the menu rather than choosing just one starter and one main. Order a few favourites, add another plate when something catches your eye and pass everything around the table.
The dishes themselves are intentionally considered without being overcomplicated. With fewer elements on each plate, there’s nowhere for the ingredients to hide. Great produce, carefully sourced meat and fish, and confident cooking are allowed to speak for themselves.
Your table, your way
Perhaps the part we love most is that there are no rules about what a visit to The Teller’s Table needs to look like.
Pop in for croquettes and padrón peppers with a pint. Share three or four plates over a glass of wine. Or settle in, order multiple dishes for the table and make an occasion of it.
Lunch, drinks and a bite, date night or dinner with friends - the menu can become whatever you want it to be.
Good food, passed around the table and enjoyed at its best.
We think that’s a pretty good way to eat.
